Tim Biskup - CV & Biography

Tim Biskup (b. Santa Monica, CA. 1967- ) is a Southern California artist whose practice is focused mainly on abstract and figurative painting & Drawing, but extends into sculpture, printmaking and music. He studied fine art at Otis/ Parsons before entering the skateboard & animation industries where he honed his technical skills. In 1999 he gathered a community of artists and began hosting live art auctions at bars around Los Angeles. He quickly found an audience for his personal work and began a career showing his art in gallery settings. Around 2009 he began experimenting with a graphite drawing technique he has come to refer to as “Graphite Memory”. Videos of this technique have garnered hundreds of millions of views on social media and culminated in a series of live drawing events including a session at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in February of 2025. In February of 2017 he opened a small art gallery space called Face Guts in Los Angeles, CA. Which has recently expanded to include an art/lifestyle shop called Home Guts located next door to the gallery. Biskup’s mid-career retrospective monagraph/autobiography “Tree of Life” was published by Chronicle Chroma in 2019.
